Tunesday : Sunrise, Sunset

Sunrise, Sunset
From Fiddler on the Roof

Is this the little girl I carried?
Is this the little boy at play?

I don't remember growing older
When did they?

When did she get to be a beauty?
When did he get to be so tall?

Wasn't it yesterday
When they were small?

Sunrise, sunset
Sunrise, sunset
Swiftly flow the days
Seedlings turn overnight to sunflowers
Blossoming even as we gaze

Sunrise, sunset
Sunrise, sunset
Swiftly fly the years
One season following another
Laden with happiness and tears

What words of wisdom can I give them?
How can I help to ease their way?

Now they must learn from one another
Day by day

They look so natural together

Just like two newlyweds should be

Is there a canopy in store for me?

Sunrise, sunset
Sunrise, sunset
Swiftly flow the days
Seedlings turn overnight to sunflowers
Blossoming even as we gaze

Sunrise, sunset
Sunrise, sunset
Swiftly fly the years
One season following another
Laden with happiness and tears

We spent the weekend up at Sauble Beach, and although it was far too cold to go swimming, you never can go wrong with those Lake Huron sunsets. It was pretty late in the season for us to have rented a cottage, but I guess summer isn't over for Kennedy until we spend some time up there, so up we had to go. We got a fairly small place, but with three beds, it was plenty big enough. The best part: Campfires that you actually want to cosy up to, singing songs that no one else can hear (because there ain't nobody else there), and - best of all - no mosquitoes. Overall, a fun weekend.

On Saturday, we went into Port Elgin for their Pumpkinfest and Car Show - a nice way to spend the day together, even if neither event was terribly interesting to me - and after that, we went to Sauble Falls (mostly because Zach apparently "loves waterfalls" and hadn't been here before. Turns out: he wasn't too impressed by this)

And while that was pretty much the weekend (walking the beach, campfires, daytrips), this week's song choice wasn't totally meant to be literally about sunsets: Kennedy and Zach have had their offer accepted to buy their first home together, and if it all goes through, that's my little girl a moved-out grown-up.

One more beautiful Sauble Beach sunset; more spectacular for having been off-season:
